Children’s Freedom Choir Leadership
Somerlie DePasquale wears many different hats every single day. Her most important hat is as a wife and mom to two wonderful children. She plays the oboe professionally, with oboe performance degrees from Vanderbilt University and Roosevelt University in Chicago. She is a frequent sub for the Nashville Symphony. When not doing all of these things, you’ll often find her watching baseball or with a good book in her hand.
Morgan Maxwell is a junior Music Therapy Major at Belmont University. She is originally from Mount Juliet, TN. At Belmont, Morgan is involved in Sigma Alpha Iota, the Belmont Music Therapy Student Organization, and the Dean’s Advisory Council. Morgan brings a tremendous amount of joy and creativity to her ministry with the Children’s Freedom Choir.
Haley Smith is a senior Music Education and Music Therapy major at Belmont University. Originally from Roswell, Georgia, she sang in the Greater Atlanta Girls Choir in high school, where she fell in love with choral singing. In addition to directing the Children’s Freedom Choir, she teaches piano lessons at WO Smith Community Music School in Nashville. Haley is certified in Level I, Orff-Schulwerk.
Terry Taylor is the Managing Editor of Growing in Grace Children’s Music Curriculum and the bi-vocational Minister of Music at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church. He attended Cumberland University, Belmont University, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Terry is is widely respected for his creativity, advocacy, and leadership in music ministry with children. He is active as a curriculum writer, composer, conference leader, and conductor.
Teresa West is the beloved Music Teacher at Walnut Grove Elementary School in Williamson County, where she has served for over 25 years! She earned degrees in Music Education at the University of Arkansas, and is active in several professional music organizations. Teresa brings a wealth of experience and a genuine Christ-like compassion for children to the Children’s Freedom Choir.
